Sita juhlistamaan taytyi tottakai askarrella kakku. Tai oikeastaan kaksi, mutta tama sai kunniakseen olla kynttilakakku :) |<br />

Tunisiassa keksikakut ovat yleisia, helppoja tehda ilman uunia ja yksinkertaisista aineksista. Itse liputan taman kakun puolesta, koska sen voi juhlia edeltavana paivana tehda taysin valmiiksi ja silti se nayttaa ja maistuu ihan kunnon taytekakulta. Kakku itseasiassa vaatii maustumista, joten vuorokausi jaakaapissa vain parantaa kakun koostumusta ja makua. Keksit tarvitsevat aikaa pehmetakseen ja taytteiden taytyy asettua. Takaan, etta kakku ei jaa keskelta raa'aksi tai pala pohjasta ;) Ja parasta on, etta myohaiset vieraatkin saavat eteensa priimatavaraa, lassahtaneen kermakuorrutuksen sijasta.<br />

Syksy on tullut. Sita odoteltiin ehka liiankin kauan. Kun vetta ei ole satanut puoleen vuoteen, alkaa sadetta olla jo hiukan ikava. Sadepaivat voi silti laskea viela yhden kaden sormilla, ja silloinkin enimmakseen vain kuuroja. Tanaankin melkein satoi. Naapureille taisi roiskua muutama pisara, me katselimme vieresta ;)<br />

I tried some white moulding clay. It was my first time, so went for something really simple. Rolled some round shapes and left them to dry in the room air. In this humidity it took a week! After that I painted them with my favorite colours and spent some time thinking what the heck to do with them ;) I will definitely buy some more of this clay thingy, and my head's filled up with a new ideas already. I love full moon. It rises from behind the Mediterranean Sea all the way above the city. It's big as if it was really near ja you can see the different shades of colour on it with plain eye. <br />

needed some decorative cushions for her wedding bed. It is a local tradition for the wedding guests to go and have a look at bride's and groom's home-to-be. The wedding bed especially has to be up to the standards, since it's THE main interest ;) Tunisian people looooove gold and sparkle (and diamonds and lace and ruffle and...) in their bedroom interior, but that's far too OTT for Nordic taste. So the perfect solution was to make these cushions as a wedding gift. They're 50x50cm and designed according to receiver's taste.<br />

Valilla riisiruokaa. Tyypilliseen tunisialaiseen tapaan helppoa ja hoyrytettya. Perinteisesti tama ruoka on kuulemma tehty lampaasta, naudasta ja maksasta. Jokaista vahan ja pieneksi paloiteltuna. Itsekin olen sita tuolla kokoonpanolla tehnyt, mutta kana vie voiton meikalaisen makumittarilla :) Toki voi kayttaa myos kalkkunaa. Yleensa kokkaan taman reseptin mukaan, mutta vihreiksi riittaa myos lehtipersilja ja pinaatti kahdestaan. Tosin niita pitaa olla riittavasti. Siis paaaaljon. Tahan meni noin puolitoista litraa silputtuna, eika sekaan ollut liikaa. <br />

<span style="background-color: #fce5cd;">Time for some rice recipe for a change. Cooked by steaming which is very typical for Tunisian meals. It's also simple and fast. Traditionally made with chopped lamb, beef and liver but I prefer this with chicken. I normally cook according to this recipe of mine, but this can also be cooked by using only a flat leave parsley and spinach. Only a lot of them. Today I us</span>ed about litre and a half of chopped greens and it wasn't too much.<br />
<br />
I advice to half this recipe unless you have a real big steamer or two. This is lot of food and enough at least for two meals for a average sized family. I just like cooking a lot to save me time the next day.<br />

Vanukas tehdaan pienista mustista siemenista, jotka pestaan, kuivataan ja jauhetaan. Suurin osa jengia kuitenkin ostaa semikasiteltya valmistetta, eli tuohon jauhamiseen asti tehtya.. Sen jalkeen oljy-jauhoseos viela siiviloidaan moneen kertaan, kunnes jaljelle jaa silea ruskea mehu. Johon sitten lisataan vehnajauhoja ja se keitetaan sokerin ja muiden mausteiden kera. Kaadetaan kulhoihin ja paalle keitetaan kondensoidusta maidosta, vaniljasokerista ja appelsiininkukkavedesta kiisselikerros. Lopuksi herkku koristellaan erilaisilla jauhetuilla pahkinoilla ja karkeilla.</div>

the assida-factory. Once in a year the Tunisian people freshen up their assida cooking skills. This pudding is called zgougou and it's made of tiny black pine tree seeds that first have been washed, dried and grounded. Then cooked in water with some flour. The top layer is condensed milk pudding with orange blossom water and vanilla flavour. Last thing is to decorate it with grounded nuts and sweets. </div>

Vanha kansa tietaa, etta sateet alkavat 15. joulukuuta. Tana vuonna taisi alkaa vasta kuudestoista paiva. Siita lahtien onkin vetta roiskinut siihen malliin, etta veneella kulkisi sutjakammin kuin autolla.</div>

Meikalaista palelee aika usein. Halusin uudet "villasukat"... Nama ei villaa ole nahnytkaan, mutta keinotekoisesti oikein lampimat! Ja huom huom, ihan neulomalla tein. Taas tuli muistutettua itseaan, miksi virkkaaminen on fiksumpaa. Neuloessa pitaa koko ajan laskea ja tarkastaa, siita on rentoutuminen kaukana. Sitten senttia vaille valmis, niin silmukat lahtee juoksemaan. Eika jarjestyksessa taaksepain, vaan suoraan alaspain, mur. Ensin kiroillen koitetaan napata kiinni ja korjata tuho, kunnes hermoromahduksen jalkeen paadytaan purkamaan puolet tyosta ja tekemaan uudelleen. <br />

You can use them inside out anyway round, so they last longer too. I crocheted little rim to make them extra special. I'm not a knitting person, and making these took some effort.
